Friday Gita Class

friday Gita class Friday Gita Class - Every Friday from 7:00 PM. Please click here for the class recordings.

As the student in Bhagavad-Gita, Arjuna, was faced with the difficulty of confronting his friends and relatives in the battlefield of Kurukshetra and was confused about his duty, we too face difficulties in the battles of our day to day lives and it is important that we look at these difficulties with the right perspective. Arjuna had Sri Krishna Himself to answer all his questions and we have the Bhagavad-Gita to help us find answers to our questions. Specifically, the Bhagavad-Gita answers questions like "Who is God? Who are we? What is our relationship with God?". Srila Prabhupada, Founder-acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, mentions in his introduction to the Bhagavad-Gita that the purpose of this scripture is to deliver mankind from the nescience of material existence. To achieve this purpose, Bhagavad- Gita classes are being conducted every Friday at the Laguna beach temple.

The class is mostly led by His Grace Tukaram Dasa, the Temple President, except when we have an occasional guest speaker. The class starts with the "Jaya Radha Madhava" chant, followed by a quick recap of the previously completed chapters and an indepth study of the current chapter. The class ends with a question and answer session. Tukaram Prabhu very gracefully explains the translations, helps understand the philosophy and the flow of the conversation linking current verses to verses in previous chapters. The class is followed by dinner prasadam. Invariably, discussions continue through the dinner prasadam time.
